The work is performed at designated sites of The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren Laboratory is a premier research and development center that serves as a specialty site for weapon system integration. This position is being posted in anticipation of a bid award, where CIPS is aiming to meet the IT operational needs of the NSWCDD.

POSITION'S HOURS/SHIFT: 40 hours, M-F between the hours of 7AM-5:30 PM

LOCATION: Dahlgren, VA
Computer Integration & Programming Solutions Corp. (CIPS), located in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Senior level Unix Systems Administrator to provide system and network administration support for The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) to include design, installation, maintenance, disaster recovery and user support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform installation and configuration of hardware, operation systems and COTS software, operating computer systems in different operating environments
Perform systems administration to include installing, patching, and maintenance support for NSWCDD corporate information systems
Conduct performance, tuning, hardware/software/network trouble shooting and resource allocation
Provide software services for OIC Collaboration Network (CN) servers, network equipment and client
Provide deployment and user support, and operations and maintenance of NSWCDD Corporate information systems, business applications, and supporting integrating Capabilities
Administer disaster recovery - system updates, security patch updates, virus definition updates, backup and restore,
Perform hardware and workstations administration and maintenance support
Configure and upgrade computers with Sun Solaris and/or UNIX/Linux operating systems
Provide risk management and mitigation for classified spillages and incident handling as well as security management and library management,
Conduct monitoring and design, and market research for new hardware and software
Provide maintenance of directory structures, maintenance of server documentation and performance
Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure problem, solution, and user satisfaction
Prepare milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives
May provide daily supervision and direction to support staff
Experience & Competencies:
Six (6) years of UNIX technical experience in system administration of networks and software systems.
Experience should include system backup/ recovery, basic software management
Should have experience with major network security tools such as: firewalls, knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attach methods and latest detection methods
Must be familiar with different network protocols including TCP/IP
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or in the related discipline or any other equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES REQUIRED:
DoD Directive 8570 IAT level 2 or higher certification is required
