POSITION/TITLE: Storage Administrator

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular/Full Time

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

CLEARANCE: High Risk ADP

LOCATION: Maryland

POSITION SUMMARY: The Storage Administrator in this position will be responsible for the configuration, implementation and administration of the storage area networks (SAN). Design, implement and support VMware and storage solutions in a mixed environment of Linux/Windows Operating Systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:     
Integrates backup/restore operations for the SAN/NAS service.
Provide technical assistance for application installs VMware and storage backup/recovery strategies to address application performance issues and advanced VMware and storage platform problem analysis.
Manage scalability, availability, and performance of storage services
Develop and support multiple VMware ESX farms in a centralized Virtual Center/vSphere environment.
Responsible for developing systems, products, or processes based on a total system perspective.
Define customer needs and required functionality in the development cycle, documenting requirements, and then proceeding with design synthesis and system validation.
Develop and document standards/procedures/strategies/scripts that maximize the functionality and reliability of these platforms while minimizing downtime.
Work extensively with both hardware and software raid systems to find the right balance of storage density, data protection, cost and performance

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
Work closely with user and programmers to improve the I/O efficiency of their applications
Analyze the interactions between storage subsystems, file-systems and higher level services for performance optimization
Must be able to handle both the documentation and technical requirements.
Work deliverables must meet Government objectives and quality control expectations
Analyze client requests and work in close cooperation to solve all request related issues
Ensure adherence to policies, standards and procedures for software and hardware, and quality assurance

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Competencies:
4+ years of experience in designing/supporting multi-vendor storage (SAN) environments.
Broad technical experience in storage (SAN) applications associated with various platforms and VMware’s virtual Center administration.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server products, services and administrative tools
Understanding of various storage and VMware technologies is required
Knowledgeable and understand vendor solutions to perform in-depth troubleshooting and configuration management.

EDUCATION:
A four-year college degree is preferred, but not required

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES REQUIRED:
One or more VMware or SAN storage certifications desired
