The work is performed at designated sites of The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren Laboratory is a premier research and development center that serves as a specialty site for weapon system integration. This position is being posted in anticipation of a bid award, where CIPS is aiming to meet the IT operational needs of the NSWCDD.


POSITION/TITLE: Senior Systems Security Engineer

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular/Full Time

POSITION'S HOURS/SHIFT: 40 hours, M-F between the hours of 7AM-5:30 PM

REPORTS TO: Program/Project Manager

CLEARANCE: TS/SCI

LOCATION: Dahlgren, VA

POSITION SUMMARY:
Computer Integration & Programming Solutions Corp. (CIPS), located in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Sr. Systems Security Engineer to support system security/protection activities for DoD programs at NSWCDD. In this role, the system security engineer will work closely with the Program and/or Project Managers and team leads to assess security of proposed products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:     
Support the Program and/or Project Managers with the development and execution of the system security protection plan
Perform vulnerability analysis, risk analysis and  interpret and report the results to the NSWCDD IAM.
Develop and conduct security controls assessment plans and procedures
Monitor NSWCDD information systems activity on a continuing basis such as scanning for viruses and other software that is detrimental, accreditation of systems and audits.
Provide development and recommendation of technical solutions to support client requirements in solving moderate to highly complex network, platform, and systems security problems
Apply subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within the security activities, established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Competencies:
Six years related IT security experience and three years of specific experience with the DoD or Navy.
Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of computer security, military systems specifications, and DoD IA policies
Extensive experience of DIACAP as well as the implementation of Cyber Security and IA boundary defense techniques and various IA-enabled appliances; this includes firewalls, IDS, IPS, Switch/Router Strong computer or software technical background
Experience with vulnerability analysis, risk analysis, scanning for viruses and other software that is detrimental, accreditation of systems and audits.
Experience in common tampering and reverse engineering techniques for software, firmware, and hardware including methods for preventing them
Expert communication skills (written and verbal) with attention to detail on customer records.


EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical field

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES REQUIRED:
Requires IA certification or equivalent as per DoD Directive 8570(IAM level III or IAT Level III)
